Suggest Treatment For Bruising Around Thumb And Hand After A Snapping Sound
My right thumb got pulled back and I heard a snap then sharp pain... Now my thumb lower part going into my hand is brused and my whole hand is swallon but I can still move my hand and thumb and fingers .. Will the swallon go down with out seeing a doctor?
If the bruising is associated with swelling of the whole hand, there is small chance for a minor fracture. If moving the thumb and wrist is not much hurting, you can take. ibuprofen tab thrice daily after food for 3 days along with icing the area. Also keep the limb elevated and avoid prolonged hanging down. Minimise moving the affected joint / area. If the swelling or pain worsens, kindly see your doctor, as he may need an X-ray.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK, Pediatrician
