Suggest Treatment For Bulging Stomach Vein And Frequent Gum And Nose Bleeds
castro valley ca my husband was applying for ss disability and was denied. He has huge enormous stomach vein bulging and frequent bleeding from nose and gums. His blood results still not life threatening, but because of bulging huge veins conditions it is life threatening. He has to be very careful when he bends. When he works he sweats a lot. He is on low dosage of propranolol, because high dose makes him slow. What doctor has to evaluate him for his life threatening vein conditions? He has gastroenterologist.
From your question, I guess your husband is suffering from portal hypertension. Portal hypertension is the condition in which there is increased pressure in the portal vein, the vein that carries blood from the stomach, spleen and intestines. This may decreases platelet count which may induce bleeding in various parts. Follow low sodium diet to reduce the venous pressure. If the condition worsens, opt for surgery to reduce the venous pressure such as TIPS or DSRS. If your husband is alcoholic, strict abstinence from alcohol is necessary.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
