Suggest Treatment For Bump And Bruise On Face After A Fall
Hi, my 5 year old son fell forward while running and tripping and he fell flat on his face. He had a bump and a bruise immediately after the fall and after a few hours, now he has a soft swollen spot inside his bruise. What is that mean? Should I be worried? What should I do? Please help.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.
As per your complain it seems like your son has got soft tissue injury due to fall leading to inflammation and there is accumulation of inflammatory fluid, cells, damaged soft tissue fibres and blood and broken blood vessels at the site of injury leading to swelling and bruising is due to Hematoma formation secondary to accumulation of blood from ruptured blood vessels at the injury site.. You should give him Ibuprofen or tylenol for pain, do alternate warm and cool compresses over the swelling and if there is pain over the lump you can apply Lignocaine to numb the area of pain.. Once the swelling reduces you can take him to a Paediatrician and he can do an x ray to rule out for any bony fractures and if fracture is found reduction and fixation might be needed..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora
