Hi. I have this bump that isn t on my nipple but is around my areola. It is pea sized, hard, swollen, and practically blood red. I do not have any children, so I m not breast feeding. It hurts and I ve been putting antiseptic on it every day. I m not entirely sure what to do. Thank you.
According to your description the possibilities are lesions developed due to the blockade of sweat glands or Montgomery tubercles, which will be present around the areola. If the problem is persistent, even after using the antiseptic cream better to consult your gynecologist and get examined.
By clinical examination the exact cause of the problem can be identified and treatment can be given accordingly. Sometimes systemic antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs can help along with the local medicine to control the problem. Ice packs can give symptomatic relief. Please discuss these things with your gynecologist and follow her advice.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
