Suggest Treatment For Bump On Pelvic Area

Hello Doc, I had a single bump on my pelvis a year ago. If I remember correctly, around this time I had shaved myself pretty bare for the first time. I use to sag my pants which cause my belt buckle to rub against my pelvis. I started to feel a pain and thought that I had actually pinched myself with my belt. It was a single bump on my pelvis and it was pretty soar and painful. Didn t know what to make of it at the time and within maybe a week or two it went away. Since then I stopped shaving my pelvis. I still continue to shave the base of my shaft. The other day I noticed a bump on my shaft this time. I hoping this is an ingrown hair and not herpes. Do herpes break out in single bumps?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of bump on pelvic area which occurs due to bacterial infection of hair follicles, hormonal changes, stress and when sebum get accumulated along with dead skin and bacteria in clogged pore of sebaceous gland. It can also occur due to STD. I would suggest you to exfoliate your skin once a week to remove the dead skin. You should start with use of topical antibacterial clindamycin gel as a spot treatment during day time and at night you may use a topical retinoid like Adapalene gel. You should take topical antibiotics as well. Wear loose clothes and do not scratch this area . If condition doesn't start getting better in a week then consult dermatologist for proper examination and treatment. Doctor may prescribe oral antibiotic course clindamycin or isotretinoin.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
