Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
3 weeks ago I tripped and fell flat on my face hitting the floor I still have a large bump or hematoma on my forehead where I impacted with the floor. I went to emergency right away and they did a CT scan and I did not have a concussion but my eye on that side was already purple and swollen shut. In the days that followed my whole face and neck became purple and bruised, with the other eye swelling up also. In 3 weeks most all the purple bruising is gone except that the bump on my forehead is still there and somewhat swollen. It is quite hard, not soft or mushy. My right eye is still slightly affected, the lid seems to be droopy. My sight has not been affected. My question is, why is it taking so long for this bump or hematoma to start to decrease. The CT scan didn t show any concussion but I am concerned that something medically has to be done to discover why this isn t getting any better. My doctors tell me that in time the body will absorb it and it will get better on its own. After 3 weeks I am getting anxious about it. There s No change.
You need not to worry for the bump on your forehead as your CT does Not show any pathology or report any concussion.
You can apply cold compression & Ointment Thrombophob regularly on the bump & the affected area. Slowly it should get reduced with the course of time.
It can be either hematoma; or osteoma which is benign & not harmful.
If you have worsening headache, imbalance, nausea-vomiting, irritability, mood changes, memory loss or confusion, you need a follow-up treatment. Get treated at the earliest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
