Suggest Treatment For Burning Tongue And Itchy Throat Caused From Phenyl
My mother was about to take a small cough syrup bottle cap amount of phenyl and she spit it out the moment she realized it was phenyl and didn t swallow it at all. Now her tongue is having burning sensation plus some itching in her throat. Kindly help.
As per your complain it seems that phenyl has caused chemical burning and inflammation of her tongue and throat and it is leading to burning sensation of tongue and itching in throat. As the time for contact with the chemical seems to be short therefore there is a chance that there might not be severe burning of mucosa and ulceration.
I would suggest that she can start doing gargles with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine. She can take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen. Do cool water rinses and suck ice. Take a soft and bland diet. In case if still there is no improvement consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
