Suggest Treatment For Burnt Hands

Hello, Earlier today I was cooking. The oven was at 500 degrees F, and I went to pull the oven grate out without thinking. I grabbed it with my left hand and heard it sizzle, immediately pulled my hand out and ran it under cool water for about 15 minutes. I then put some aloe vera on my fingers and wrapped them in band aids. I now have blisters on 4 of my fingers, and the blistered areas are numb. Is this normal? Should I see a doctor or will the feeling come back? Thank you, Marissa

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The blisters and numbness may indicate that the burn is at least 2nd degree burn.
Though sensation may improve, it would be best to see your doctor particularly since it involved an essential area of the body such as the hands.

Silver sulfadiazine is used to treat burns but additional medications such as an antibiotic may be needed.

I hope this helps
