Recent MRI states at L5 S1 partial loss of normal disc T 2 signal while disc height and endplates are normal. 15mm x 5mm left foraminal and extraforaminal disc protrusion is present. There is impingement of L5 nerve root. Facet degenerative change is present bilaterally. Central canal size is normal. Neither S1 nerve root is impinged. There is left laminectomy defect. So am. Looking at future surgery? How much do you think steroid injections will help?
