Suggest Treatment For Calcification Of My Carotid Arteries

Some months ago I experienced an episode of sudden onset dizziness, mild confusion, nausea, headache, weakness, faintness and vision changes. Seeing double and a general feeling of being off were the only symptoms that lasted more than 30 minutes. It was over 12 hours before I felt normal again. I have recently been diagnosed with an unknown immune disorder, having some lupus like symptoms, such as joint and muscle pain, photo reactivity, and hemolytic anemia. Yesterday I remembered a chiropractor telling me a few years ago that I should see a cardiologist because calcification of my carotid arteries were clearly visible with x-ray. Could all of this be related? Should I be concerned and see a cardiologist?

It's is a rare thing to see carotid calcification in an x-ray until its really evident and severe.


MY OPINION:

Symptoms are usually gradual ,not just a single episode, but with the symptoms you had , in my opinion you should meet a cardiologist , with your record and labs you have had.

What is this:


This may or may not be aortic calcification but you have to get it ruled out before a big event happens.

Your Doctor might want to run some exam and tests on you like ECG, perfusion tests, carotid dopplers etc.

Treatment:

Yes there is a treatment for carotid calcification:

Carotid stenting is widely done and is very efficient then end artectomy is also done surgically. Choise of procedure depends upon factors like choice of doctor, severity and facilities available.
