Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve been diagnosed as having carpal tunnel in both arms. I m a paralegal and need to get rid of the tingling in my hands and arms. The right is the worst. I m just started a new job and am waiting for my new insurance to start in July to take care of it. If there are exercises or a way I can avoid surgery, that would be wonderful.
I've gone through your query. I can understand your anxiety.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can be due to thyroid dysfunction, diabetes, fractures or trauma to the wrist & many others. Also numbness, pain & tingling could be due to the pressure effect on the nerve.
In order to reduce your symptoms, - underlying cause should be treated - keep your hand in a resting position by short splint ( which protects the nerve) - cold compress - Analgesics like ibuprofen -Tab. Frusemide 40 mg once daily (to reduce swelling if present ) - Inj. Hydrocortisone locally into the carpel tunnel. - if pain not reducing, surgery is the only option
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Get well soon.
Regards, Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
