Hello, Welcome to HCM,
Cat is a known reservoir of rabies virus and it has got all the potential to transmit rabies which is 100% fatal but it is 100% preventable by proper and adequate treatment.
As there was a bleeding following cat bite, according to WHO categorization this is categorized into Cat III, which should be manged by
1.Wash the wound with soap and water. 2.Active immunization with anti rabies vaccine on days 0,3,7,14 and 28. 3. Passive immunization with anti rabies serum around the wound. 4.Oral antibiotics like Tab Augmentin, 625 mg, twice daily for five days.
The aforementioned measures should be followed to prevent rabies in you. Thank you.
