Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I had a partial thyroidectomy 3 weeks ago. I visited my pcp today who examined the scar area (it s obviously healed and scarred by now) and she noticed a knot at the front of my neck. She told me I should get it checked out by my surgical team. A few days after surgery is when I initially noticed the knot myself because I felt a ton of pressure in my neck and it felt like there was a ball inside my neck. So I went to the ER and they did a ct scan and these are the results. They sent me on my way with no treatment. Should I be worried? This is my ct result: Postsurgical changes are noted from right thyroid lobectomy with soft tissue swelling and mild edematous changes in the surgical bed as well as subcutaneous fat stranding noted in the anterior neck likely consistent with postsurgical change and/or cellulitis. Foci of air are noted within the right thyroid surgical bed, the largest focal air pocket measuring about 16 x 12 x 22 mm. Small foci of air noted anterior to the isthmus as well as left lobe of thyroid as described above. No evidence of focal fluid collection or abscess. Other additional incidental and ancillary findings as detailed in the body of the report.

If these are absent then you should not be worried about it. Its just an edema secondary to surgery. You should stay calm and use painkillers and other drugs which were being prescribed. Meanwhile stay calm and use acetaminophen to relieve pain Get well soon Hope your query is adequately addressed if you still have any feel free to ask Regards Dr Saad Sultan
