ok so my son was hospitalized this past tuesday through friday with cellulitis checking into the hospital with a wbc of 21000 the day he was released his wbc was 16200 today he went for another round of blood work because his was broke out in a rash from head to toe on his boday and his wbc has only came down to 16000 im really worried considering he has been on very strong antibiotics for a week now
It is normal to use "strong" antibiotics while having cellulitis as this infection is mostly caused by staphylococcus aureus with is an infection that needs proper treatment. If he is having a rash, this may be due to an allergy to medications or it may be due to staphylococcus releasing toxins in the system. The doctors need to determine the proper test so they can decide on further treatment. Thus, to conclude, you need to be patient and allow the doctors to do the needed examinations as it seems your son is having the proper care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
