Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I am sorry for the skin problems this diabetic patient is going through. Often, person with diabetes suffer skin infection that are difficult to heal due to high blood sugar level (BSL). It would be of great help if you can send a photo of the affected skin of the person in order to evaluate the changes myself.

Apart from antibiotics taken orally, it is very important to have a local treatment of the damaged skin. Keep good hygiene. Soaking in potassium permanganate solution can help. Silver Sulfa cream is used only on undamaged skin. In this person's case, he has open sores so cannot use on open sores. On contrary, antibiotic ointments can be used after potassium permanganate solution. Stabilizing blood sugar levels is also very important to get the sores healed faster.

Wish the fast recovery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini
