Suggest Treatment For Chalazion On The Lower Lid Of A Toddler

Hi. My 3 year old has a chalazion on his lower lid. He had seen a ophtalmologist a few weeks ago after consulting our GP twice. The specialist told us to do compresses and slight massage (same as GP) and said, it would go away. By then he has had it for nearly 2 months. His Chalazion was very big, like a hazelnut and inflamed, but not infected. I had a hard time applying heat, as the area was very sore and red. Both, my son and I felt a lot of stress going through this! Last Friday, it spontaniously popped on the outside and dark blood, mixed with a milky- greyish fluid came out. I tried to press a bit on the side without touching the wound. It had reduced to a quarter of the size. In the last three days the swelling decreased, but there is still some swelling, which seems like a waterbed. The red area seems to have shrunk, but is barely changing in colour and consistency. It looks like a burn. The top layer of the skin looks o.k.apart from the red colour, but underneath there seems to be like a residue that looks dark, like a small bruise inside. It s where the blood came out. Should I just wait or go back and check. I know it can take long to fully go away. But I am confused whether to continue with heat (seems to not help with the redness and my son doesn t let me do it for long enough)? If I just leave it alone, would it be best for the remaining inflamation? But then the blockage would remain? (I can still feel a hardened area near the eye lid and that hasn t changed at all. That s why it probably popped on the outside. Please advise.
