Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi there - I have chest pain which is followed by neck pain. The pain is dull and probably a 3/10 on the pain scale. I have been having these pains for 6 days now. This was after a pain in the centre of my chest 6/10 the went through to my spine and cause me to have to rest against my office chair. This was followed by tingling in my lips. I don t feel well and slept most of Sunday. Went to local GP on Monday - blood oxygen 98%, pulse fine and regular, BP 148/80. Had blood tests and they are normal. Any thoughts?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Chest pain latter radiating to neck could be due to cardiac problem. Cardiac pains often start in chest - center or left side and then radiate to the neck. Although the pain going to spine is against the cardiac nature of pain, however, the cardiac origin of pain needs to be ruled out. I suggest you to consult your cardiologist for clinical assessment and investigations like ECG, echocardiography, TMT if required. If there is any abnormality in the cardiac system, it will be shown in these investigations. If the cardiac system comes out to be normal, then other causes of chest pain need to be ruled out. Chest pain can result from respiratory causes, musculoskeletal causes, esophageal causes etc.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
