General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your son seems to have an upper respiratory tract infection (URTI). The best course for me seems to have a Pediatrician consultation. He/she might examine for features of pneumonia and might ask for a chest x-ray.

If symptoms are suggestive of pneumonia your kid might be given antibiotic based on severity. Unprescribed use of antibiotic might increase resistance to pathogens. So please consult a doctor. If its just an URTI general measures like Anti- Histaminics, plenty of fluids, rest might suffice.

Hope I have clarified your doubts. If you have anything more to know please feel free to ask.

Regards,
Muralidhar Naiduk
