Suggest Treatment For Chest Congestion, Severe Cough And Runny Nose

what is the best way to get rid of a virus? I have a congested chest, hacking cough, congested head and runny nose. Low energy, and a slight headache. THis has been ongoing for a week and gets slighly better and then worse. I feel warm but have not had chills.

Hi,

Take rest. Maintain proper hydration [have lots of fluids]. DIMAPHEN DM will help treat adults [less than 100ml/day divided into 5-6 doses]. Wash hands. Position your bed at 45 degrees. No smoking or alcohol consumption. Vitamin C tablet chewable can be taken.
Zinc gluconate lozenges shows fastened recovery, it can be up to 10 mg per day but sputum examination may needed to rule out bacterial infection. Do a little breathing exercise i.e., pranayam. It is proved to be very good.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
