Hello,
It is true that chest pains are usually cardiac, gastrointestinal or even muscular in origin. However, a normal ECG does not rule out an atherosclerotic heart disease considering your elevated
cholesterol levels.
Chest pain associated with eating can either be cardiac or gastrointestinal in origin. And I suggest that since your resting ECG is normal, the next usual step is to do a treadmill
stress test.
It is also prudent to do an
ultrasound of the abdomen to check that there are no gallstones, for which the pain may mimic that of cardiac chest pain.
Still, the symptoms that would entail a cardiac cause of the chest pain, like easy fatigability and exertional chest pain which is relieved by rest. And I hope I can have more opportunities to know all of your symptoms.
But with this, I suggest a checkup with your doctor, to be able to check all of your risk factors, proper diagnosis and treatment, which may include a 2D echo, stress testing, medications to lower cholesterol, as well as possible initiation of antiplatlets to prevent cardiac events, if ever you would be diagnosed to have
ischemic heart disease.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Daryl Derick B. Dizon, General & Family Physician
