Suggest Treatment For Chest Pain And Lightheadedness
Have an 12yr old daughter who is having chest pain tonight. The pain is in the middle of her chest (between her breast) where the rib cage meets. When she removed he shirt for me to look and examin I noticed her left side rib cage areais a somewhat larger then the right. I gave her some tums for the pain, hoping it is acid reflux......any thoughts? Note: she has had part of a benign tumor removed from her head. 5th cranial, other part is still there and treated w/ radiation. She also became light headed today while walking the mall, instant headache
Chest pain can originate from any structure in the chest. Since the pain is central , the structures in this area are: (1)skin (there are rashes that can be painful or neuralgia), (2)muscles and connecting tissue- may state that the pain worsens with particular movement (3)bones-the sternum is in the central chest and inflammation of the cartilage between the ribs and sternum can cause pain. This is called costrochondritis (4)esophagus (5)heart- no likely at her age
If the pain is not responding to reflux then it is possible it is inflammatory and the use of anti inflammatory pain medications such ibuprofen, cataflam, naproxen.
I hope this helps
