Suggest Treatment For Chest Pain Due To Occluded Artery
my brother is in the hospital. He had chest pain while playing tennis but no other pain after. He has one 90% occluded artery. They want to do bypass surgery tomorrow. Can he wait and get a second opinion and then choose his doctor and hospital? Is there too much risk? He has had no further pain once he stopped playing tennis.
This depends on many factors like the ECG appearance, level of cardiac enzymes and his hemodynamic status (blood pressure and pulse rate). If no active symptoms (chest pain/breathlessness), stable hemodynamically and investigations other than angiogram are normal, this is not an emergency and we can wait to choose the doctor and centre of your preference. You can discuss all these things freely with your doctor
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
