Suggest Treatment For Chest, Shoulder And Back Pain

My dad Xray shows apical plural thickening on the right upper lobe near the shoulder and they advise to go for CT scan to rule out malignancy. He is complaining of front chest pain around the shoulder and middle back pain for about half year ago. Will it be cancer?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Apical plural thickening may be a manifestation of interstitial pneumonia, mycobacterial infection or lung cancer. The condition can cause breathing difficulty & pain chest. You are suggested to get your dad clinically examined by a GP & get CBC, Chest radiographs, MRI/CT, lung biopsy, etc done if required. His treatment will depend on the clinical symptoms & reports of the tests obtained.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
