Suggest Treatment For Chicken Pox

Hi my 2 year old daughter has chicken pox, currently on day 5. No more spots have appeared today for the first day since she started with chicken pox. Some have started to scab. I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to aid the process or scabbing and speed it up a little.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Symptomatic and Supportive care is most essential in treatment of chickenpox since the disease is self limiting. Any fever should be treated with anti-pyretics and tepid sponging. Soothing / emollient creams and anti-histamines can be used to reduce itching.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
