My son is 5 yr 7 months old. He is suffering from beta thalassemia major diagnosed at his 10 months age and so far got more than 30 transfusions by red packed cells and with leukocyte filters. Now he requires 2 transfusions in a month but not able to maintain Hb% more than 10 mg. now-a-days. He is presently under iron chelation by Desirox 250 mg. (Oral) daily at morning & ferritin last tested 1 month back is 1800 units (Come down from 5700). I got another son and he is now 2 months old. We did CVS at CMC Vellore at 5 months of pregnancy and identified thalassemia career. Doctor advised to continue the pregnancy. We have preserved stem cells & cord blood. Seek for best possible treatment to get cure of my child. Please help us
