Suggest Treatment For Chills And Back Pain When Diagnosed With Pyelonephritis
I recently had pyelonephritis. My symptoms actually started with severe continuous palpitations on a Thursday. By Saturday I was in Urgent Care with a temp of 102.6, shaking chills and back pain. Put on Cipro and recovered from the infection, but still have the palpitations and it has been 3 weeks. Why do I still have them. Doctor did a holter monitor and said they are harmless but they are very disconcerting to me and I would like them gone.
As per my surgical experience, the chills and back pain when diagnosed with pyelonephritis indicates underlying residual infection after intake of cipro antibiotic. Current guidelines for better recovery - Plenty of liquids to maintain hydration of the body and kidneys - Fresh urine culture report to evaluate the antibiotic sensitivity and organism pattern causing the inflammation and fever - Intravenous or oral antibiotics as per the culture report - Supportive care with tablet paracetamol for fever control - Evaluation of serum creatinine, urea and BUN ratio - Control of blood sugar and body weight
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
