Suggest Treatment For Choking Sensation Due To Drainage In Throat

I am 77 and when I lay down seems like I am choking or about to choke on what seems like too much drainage going down my throat. It seems to be worse when I lay on my back. It makes it very difficult sometimes to lay flat for a medical procedure or even to just go to sleep. what can I do.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to sinus drainage.

I suggest using mucolite to reduce the amount of mucus.

I also suggest using a throat spray with antibacterial properties.

If the symptoms continue you should consult an ENT specialist for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
