Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am considering having my l4 and l5 fused. I have had back pain for over 5 years. I have done chiropractic, physical therapy, and spinal steroid injections every 6 months, which do not seen to be working any more. My pain is not constant. Some movements accelerate the pain and then it is quite severe. Sneezing or coughing is bad. Rolling over from side to side at night in bed hurts. I do not have any pain going into my legs. I can walk for long periods of time. I use my elliptical most every night and that does not bring me pain. Do you think at this point I should consider surgery or wait? My email address is YYYY@YYYY . Look forward to hearing from you.
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, first thing you need to do is get done the MRI test as long as the doubt of spinal degenerative disease is concern without this nothing can be decided about the surgery, it may not be like that and sometime just medicine could be enough, along with physiotherapy, if you do not have any neurological symptoms then it is nothing to worry till you get done the MRI, hope this information helps, take care.
