Suggest Treatment For Chronic Back Pain

I have chronic back pain and take 10MG of Oxycodone every 4hrs for pain. I recently had oral surgery on a back molar and was using a heating pad to help with that. No antibiotics. Back was hurting a bit so I was lying on my left side on top of heating pad in bed. I fell asleep, about an hour later woke up, put pad away, went back to sleep. Next morning I noticed some red blotches on side of my stomach where the pad was, a little sensitive and noticed same on side of back, no redness just sensitive. 2nd day more so. 3rd morning and now is causing Great pain. Doesn t look like burn but stings bad. Back still no redness but same. Not sensitive to heat, so doesn t seem like a burn. Cold helps a little but not for long. Both front and back hurts so bad I can t sleep. Feels really sore like I got kicked with boots. I can send a pic if you wish. Just need to know is this temporary and what will help with pain? I ve tried Benadryl, Cobroxin, even icy hot, nothing seems to work. Park Ranger so I m out of city for another week. Please help if you can. Thank You, Rick H.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
chronic back ache, can be due to problem with vertebrae/ inter vertebral discs./ Arthritis of sacroileac joints / osteoporosis due to weak bones can cause such pain in advanced age.
You need a consultation of an orthopedic doctor , get physiclly examined, get few investigations done( serum calcium, vitamin D/ x ray spine( lumbosacral)/ xray hip .
After pin pointing cause.. you will be offered treatment.. anti inflammatory pills,/ steroids/ physiotherapy/ surgery - if few unresponding patients.
So a methodical assessment & specific treatment & improved diet with calcium./ vitamin D & physiotherapy would relieve you,
Thanks.
