Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 39-year-old female who was diagnosed with allergies and asthma at age 4. For the past five years or so I have had chronic chest congestion, a dark mucus producing cough and a scratchy voice. I ve seen many doctors (and a pulmonologist) for reflux, asthma, etc. with no answers. Any suggestions on what else I can do? Thank you!
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of chronic chest congestion which is due to chronic lung infection and it could be due to poor and compromised immunity of body.
Need not to worry much. I would suggest you to visit pulmonologist once and get it examined. You should get X-ray chest done and go for pulmonary function tests as well to check exact level of infection. You need inhaled bronchodilators and antihistamine drug. Do warm saline gargles. Avoid taking cold carbonated beverages. You should take cough expectorants as well. Take steam several times a day.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
