Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have chronic constipation. I am perscribed vyvance for adhd, or what j thought was adhd in college. It was more or less to help me study and focus on school. Now I try not to take it but my bowel movements rely on it. I wait 2-3 days get real gaseous and bloated and I know it s time to take a vyvanse to clear my system. at this point everything clears out but the vyvanse heightens my anxiety. I want to know how to get regular bowel movements without the use of vyvanse and I m afraid that my bowels are so dependent on vyvanse that It may be a problem. Let me know what you suggest. Thank you!
Adequate hydration, increased fibre in diet can reduce the symptoms. Liquid paraffin syrup or Lactulose syrup can be taken at night to soften stool. Lactifiber granules can be mixed with water and can be taken to soften the stools. Alternatively, Pruvit tablet 2mg can be taken to reduce constipation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
