Suggest Treatment For Chronic Degenerative Herniated Disc Causing Lower Back Pain

I am having a burning aching pain from my left side to the right in between my skin. I am a diabetic. I had a MRI taken of the lower back. they said I have a chronic degenerative herninated disc. The pain started in my lower back, it has since mover to the middle of my stomach going around to the right lower back. It feels like pins and needle are sticking me all the time with a cold burning sensation. My neurology gave me lidodem Lidocaine Patches. It helps but the pain never stop.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You may benefit from a visit with a physiotherapist. A physiotherapist may give you exercises that may help relieve the pinched nerve and also may help with muscle spasms.
Try to be active as much as you can as bed rest makes back pain worse. Also, you may use ibuprofen combined with codeine to help for the pain and local warm compresses.

I hope this is helpful and answers your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
