HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Chronic diarrhea can be due to different possible causes such as: (1) irritable bowel syndrome which you mentioned
(2)inflammatory bowel disease such as crohns or ulcerative colitis
(3)infection but this is unlikely since the problem has been ongoing for 20 years
(4)thyroid disease
(5)endocrine diseases such as diabetes which can affect the nerves in the gastrointestinal tract
(6)side effect of medication
(7)food intolerance

A scope of the intestines (colonoscopy) would determine if there is any evidence of inflammatory bowel disease (crohns or ulcerative colitis).

Stool analysis, blood tests (diabetes, thyroid, food allergy ) can also be done as well.

I hope this helps
