Suggest Treatment For Chronic Ear Infection In An Elderly Patient
Hi, I am going back to the ENT doctor for another inner ear infection. I am a female and 70 years old and in good shape. When I was a child I had lots of ear infections and punctured ear drums. I take high blood meds and for Thyroid and Gruds. Thanks,Rusty G
Actually you are suffering from CSOM with suspected tympanic membrane rupture. You may need audiometry and x ray for complete evaluation. Take full antibiotic course (Amoxycillin and Cloxacillin work best), take anti-histamines.
Keep hygiene and follow your clinician. If you don't respond satisfactorily, or might need a minor procedure called tympanoplasty which is done in local.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ajeet Singh,
General & Family Physician
