It is commonly used to treat acne. It helps to make rough facial skin feel smoother. Avoid using Retin-A if you are allergic to tretinoin. When using Retin-A avoid exposure to sunlight or artificial UV rays. Do not apply it to open wounds. Call your treating doctor if skin irritation becomes severe or if your acne does not improve within 4 to 6 weeks. Side effects can be severe burning, stinging, or irritation of treated skin, severe redness, swelling, blistering, peeling, or crusting.
