Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Thanks. I was recently diagnose of hepatitis B for which i tested positive.
I went ahead annd did the Viral load test with the following results
PCR Hep.B Quantitative 3707 copies/ml
637 IU/ml
3.57 log.
The profile also indicated the following
B surface Antigen :reactive (Positive)
B Surface Antibody: 2 u/L
B core IgG: Reactive( Positive)
B core IgM: Non reactive (Negative)
B e antigen: Non reactive ( Negative)
B e antibody: Reactive (positive)
This has been interperated by my doctor to mean than am chronic. and that i should not worry.
However the lab test indicated that i should still go for full vaccination since my b surface antibody was only 2...what do u think.
i also do experience some weekness in my leggs and arms sometimes. and also some mild pain and tiredness in my joints sometimes
HepB can not be eradicated completely in patients infected with it.
Your gave the details of antigens and antibody but i could not find the PCR results. You need to test for HBV DNA count via PCR.
complications can be prevented with proper care and treatment. Treatment is advised if AST and ALT are > two times the ULN (upper limit normal) and HBV DNA count on PCR is very high. Liver enzymes and HBsAg status and HBV DNA PCR maybe done regularly every 6 to 12 months,
Visit hepatologist for proper interpretation of results.
hope to answer concern regards Dr Tayyab Malik
