Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I am a 63 year old female, relatively good health. I have severe hip pain in my right hip (for years). Seems to be worsening. I ve had two incidents recently when climbing stairs--my right knee buckled. I did not fall but came close. Both times I was holding on to railings. I was diagnosed with degenerative disks in my lower back several years ago which was thought to be the cause of the hip pain. I have some mild numbness and tingling in my right calf, just below knee, only in front. OTC men s give no relief. Heat nor cold provides no relief. No comfortabe position, even in bed. Pain is getting pretty hard to deal with.
Hi.... Can understand your concern... As per your query about chronic pain in hip is due to osteoporosis in which there is erosion or degeneration of bone and there is loss of calcium and minerals from bone making it painful and more prone to fracture. Its common in females and with aging. Since you've been diagnosed with degenerative disk disorder earlier it is due to aging process.... you need not to worry and take calcium and vitamin D supplement with milk..Early morning sun bath will be beneficial for vitamin D synthesis in body.. Take vitamin BComplex supplement daily . Do mild back pain exercises and yoga by consulting a physiotherapist. As its a chronic pain,an MRI should be done and consulting an orthopaedician by having a complete examination and right diagnosis and then treatment to be done accordingly. I hope the information helps you. Take Care.
