Suggest Treatment For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation
I am in desperate need to find something that works for me. I have what is called CIC chronic idiopathic constipation. My doctor has put me on linzess which kinda works but not like i expect. I do have a problem not drinking enough water but i have at least 2 - 8oz glasses of fiber therapy drink that you mix with water with a tsp of chia seed, and 1 tbsp of virgin coconut oil everyday. Not much change. I ve always had this problem most of my adult life and I m 53. Laxitives don t work and other concoctions that people tell me to try like warm milk with molasses dont work. Its so frustrating. Last month i had to go to the emergency room for chronic constipation and they gave me something clear in a glass bottle which i found on the shelf at walmart. Can t remember the name but doctor told me to take it and stay close to toilet. Well... 15 hours later i went once and that was it. Why is my stool like cement? I m to that point again where I m getting uncomfortable and extremely anxious to find something to help me. Please please please help. Is there anything strong enough to use in my daily diet without relying on prescription meds?
I understand your concern. Some advice that I can give to you are:
1) Drink more water. 2) Eat more fiber, especially soluble, non-fermentable fiber. 3) Exercise more. 4) Drink coffee, especially caffeinated coffee. 5) Take Senna, an herbal laxative. 6) Eat probiotic foods or take probiotic supplements. 7) Use over-the-counter or prescription laxatives.
