Suggest Treatment For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation
I have been diagnosed with CIC(Chronic Idiopathic constipation) & I get occasional flareups where I am totally constipated for weeks @ a time, even though I continue taking Amitiza & otc mirailax medications. I am once again suffering with this since last Wed. & I am miserable. I can't get an appt. with my Gastroenterologist until Jan. 30. what should I do?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of Chronic Idiopathic Constipation CIC, already diagnosed and gets flareups in spite of Imitiza and OTC Miralax, no bowel movements for weeks. Wants to know what cab done... I would advise you the following: To get the total check up done : Soap water enema. Bowel cleansers. Colonoscopy. Colon motility and manometry tests Colon biopsy if required. These will give the diagnosis as a cause of your problems so that proper medications be tried. Avoid all the foods and beverages that cause conation.. Increase fibers in diet. Try various stool softeners and laxatives, will know the most effective ones. Follow the treatment path as will be designed on the way and you may get results.
