Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I found out I had chronic low blood pressure when I was about eighteen. I am now fifty. Have not gone for my physical in over a year. I had a bad low blood pressure attack tonight. (Freezing; headache for hours). Finally took a really hot shower am now sleepy). My question is--- do you have a suggestion on how to raise my blood pressure when this happens? I get plenty of exercise and have been eating relatively well for the last couple of days.
Hi, How low is your blood pressure? ....need an answer for this. Headache for hours is not a typical symptom of low BP. Giddiness on standing, fatigue and falls are classical symptoms of low BP. It is best treated by increasing the salt intake. compression stalkings might help and finally some drugs like fludrocortisone may have some benefit. Consult your GP for better evaluation and treatment.
