Hi,
I guess the diagnosis is sure, and she has a normal
MRI scanning of brain (must be done in all difficult to treat migraines). Apart from drugs to abort or control an attack, such cases needs regular use of preventive drugs for few months and to taper down once adequate ans sustained control is obtained. Your doctor might be knowing this.
Meanwhile, there are few very important behavioural modifications to be followed strictly, as these will help a lot:
1. Avoid common triggers: skipping meals,
dehydration, altered or inadequate sleep.
2. Do regular workouts/exercise.
3. Avoid
smoking, alcohol and caffeinated items(tea/coffee/chocolates)
4. Preservatives in packed foods can be a trigger, so better to avoid
5. Whenever an attack comes, start reliever drug immediately, earlier the better.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
