Suggest Treatment For Chronic Pain Caused Due To Disc Bulging

I am a chronic pain sufferer, and have been for many years, with a disc bulging at L5-S1-with multiple neuropathies affecting both legs, and severe neck pain, and am just returning from the Fed Bureau of Prisons where I was not taken care of!! I had pain doctors before leaving 8 years ago who prescribed narcotics, muscle relaxers and anxiety meds to relieve. I am taking a boatload of ibuprofen unsuccessfully and am 60 years old next week. I am in Des Moines IA area and need a doctor who will take this serious pain and medicate where I get relief. I used to have a pain association web connection that would suggest pain doctors. Help appreciated. David

General & Family Physician 's  Response
This is mostly caused by slipped disc. A slipped disk (also called a herniated disk) happens when a disk between the bones of the spine bulges and presses on nerves. This is often caused by twisting while lifting. Resistant cases of herniated disc require surgery.
Advice
1.     Take rest
2.     Methylcobalamin 500 mcg once daily per oral for 3 months
3.     Gabapentin 300 mg (Capsule Neuronti 300 mg) thrice daily per oral for one month
4.     Ibuprofen 600 mg after meal per oral if pain is unbearable
5.     Consult a physiotherapist for exercise
6.     Investigation – MRI of spine
7.     Consult a neurosurgeon for follow up management

Thanks
