Suggest Treatment For Chronic Pain In Knee While Having Sciatic Nerve Pain

I have one knee that has chronic aching pain, especially when I sit a lot or overdo it. I hurt my other knee by twisting it slightly and it aches also. I recently had sciatic nerve pain and had to go to a clinic to get muscle relaxant. I feel like I am falling apart and I just turned 50. I have been overweight for 7 yrs but I am usually active much of the summer and fall months. My knees are making me want to skip work outs and my beloved hikes with my dogs (but I can still hike up to 4 miles...) Should I go to a doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hi dear .accotding to the history you are giving me you should think about knee ligaments and early aging of knee (osteoporosis) because of hiking and your obesity .
in this case MRI always is the first step to find out knee situation.
some times knee replacement or just some medicine is needed according to our case
although siatik pain could be felt on knee but usually in the back side not front side
visiting an orthopedic is recommended
