Suggest Treatment For Chronic Pain That Radiated From Neck To Shoulders

i have chroic pain radiating from my neck down to my shoulder and the skin has been numb. it started with pain then burning sensation then numbness. this has been going on for more than 4 months. i am a cashier so i do a lot of repetitive motion, i have not had an injury which everybody asks me, it just happened one day. and I ve been to an orthopedist and a neurosurgeon and neither of them said they could help me. i m very frustrated and so very tired of hurting and not being able to do much of anything.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I would recommend you to have x-rays of the spine to see if there is something specific pinching the nerves as they come out of the spine. If the x-rays do not show major changes then physiotherapy might be good to help you reposition the vertebra and release the nerves. Sometimes the nerve can be pinched on the way to the muscles due to muscles being in spasm and physiotherapy will help release these as well.

Ibuprofen will help with the pain and the local irritation and is recommended to be used 600-800 mg every 6-8 hours after food and if this is not helping enough a small dose of Gabapentin is helpful for nerve pain.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
