Suggest Treatment For Chronic Vaginal Itching Which Reduces Temporarily Only With Monistat Suppository

I am 58 and have an a vagina itch for several months. Thought it was the heat causing it back in July and August. Changed washing detergents but just switched back. Also changed toilet paper from what I ve used for years, thought it may be that. Have used 3 days of Monistat suppositories and that made the itching way less but it came back. Have an appt with gyn doctor October 30th but was wondering if there is anything I can try before my appt.

Hi,

I feel treatment of both sex partners for sufficiently long period should be the answer. Another possible thing is uncontrolled diabetes. Raised blood sugar can cause such itching. Please get these things assessed to pin point the cause with help of your gynecologist / family physician.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
