Suggest Treatment For Clogged Ears And Tingling Sensation Caused Due To Swimmer S Ear
I went to urgent care 10 days ago and was treated for swimmers ear. I got a prescription for ciprodex. After 2 days I had no pain but my ear continued to stay plugged. Now my ear feels completely clogged and I have numbness/ tingling on my face near that ear, like after going to the dentist.
You have been treated for swimmers ear. Presently, you have no pain but your ear continues to stay plugged. You are experiencing numbness and tingling around the affected ear. You had swimmer's ear, when water gets trapped in your ear it may infect the ear due to bacterial or fungal growth causing numbness or tingling. You are suggested to take a repeat course of antibiotics you had been prescribed. You can also take analgesic to help reduce middle ear infection.
It can also be due to earwax blockade. Since your face is getting affected, it can be due to nerve compression, neglect may lead to facial paralysis, bell's palsy. You are suggested to consult an ENT, he may refer you to consult a neurologist. Be very careful while taking a bath, let no water enter into your ear.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
