Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve recently taken a shower and afterwards I was was cleaning out my ears using a Q-tip and I accidentally went inside the ear canal and a felt pain. So, after that my I feel like my ear is clogged and I don t know what to do? I assume there is a wax buildup or damage to the Ear canal.
As per your complain deeper penetration of q-tip deep in the ear can lead to injury to the ear drum or tympanic membrane and can also lead to perforation.. Clogged feeling can be due to accumulation of blood clot inside the ear canal secondary to bleeding post trauma as well as there can be perforation of the eardrum.. I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and otoscopic examination can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly.. In case if there is only inflammation of ear drum and injury to ear canal then cleaning of the ear for debris or blood clot followed by antibiotic and steroid ear drops and nasal decongestants can help.. In case of perforation, if it is small antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkillers, steroids and decongestants can heal. In case of large perforation surgical correction can be advised to you..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
