Suggest Treatment For Clogged Ears

My right ear feels like it s plugged and I ve had a cold for a couple of days. My hearing is muffled, and my lymph does don t seem to be swollen. I haven t really noticed a fever, but my neck hurts quite a bit on the right side. Should I see a doctor? What can I do to alleviate the pain and plugged feeling?

Hello and welcome to 'Ask a Doctor' service.

I have reviewed your query and I understand your concern.Ssince you are having cold from past few days I think your plugged ear is because of that if it was fine before that. You may not know but your middle ear and back of your mouth are connected by a tube whose function may decreased while you have cold.c

Since you are having sore throat you may be having secondary bacterial infection, do let me know if you have foul breath. At present your doctor may prescribe you a course of antibiotics like amoxiclav. Also take a lot of fluids gargling with warm salt water and that will help a lot. Clogged ear will get better with your cold. If symptoms are not relieved in few days I recommend you should consult a doctor.
