Suggest Treatment For Clogged, Painful And Ringing Ear Post Eardrum Rupture

Hi there. I think I ruptured my eardrum last week Sunday. I went to urgent care but they just gave me a generic prescription for amoxicillin. My ear is not getting any better. It s still clogged, hurts sometimes and the ringing won t stop! Should I go to the ER? Urgent care didn t seem to give a crap about how I felt.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As first line management, you can take drugs like betahistine for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated.

A detailed evaluation is required including a CT scan is required for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
