HI MY NAME IS VISHAL AND I AM 22 YEARS OLD. 3 DAYS BEFORE I HAD COLD, I TOOK CIPLOX AND ONE ANTIBIOTIC AND WENT TO OFFICE AT NIGHT BUT BECAUSE OF AIR CONDITIONER I WAS FEELING VERY MUCH COLD, THEN IN OFFICE I TOOK VICKS ACTION 500, IT GAVE ME RELIEF OF FEELING COLD BUT DIDN T WORK A LOT. THEN IN MORNING I TOOK CIPLOX AGAIN AT MY HOME AND SLEPT. WHEN I WOKE UP I DIDN T GET ANY RELIEF SO I CONSULT TO MY BROTHER AND HE ADVISED ME TO TAKE D COLD TOTAL. I TOOK THAT AND GOT SOME RELIEF BUT NOT EXPECTED EVEN AFTER TAKING ANOTHER TABLET IN THE EVENING BEFORE GOING TO OFFICE. SO TODAY I AGAIN WENT TO MEDICAL SHOP AND ASK FOR THE MEDICINE FOR HEAVY COUGH AND COLD AND HE GAVE ME MYCET 10 AND RAXITID-150. I HAD ONE OUT OF BOTH IN THE OFFICE BUT STILL I AM HAVING HEAVY COUGH VERY FREQUENTLY. PLEASE ADVISE ME SOMETHING WHICH CAN HELP ME. THANK YOU.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. Normal cold is a viral infection and don't need any antibiotics initially. Only symptomatic treatment and rest is required. Antihistamines nasal decongestants and paracetamol for fever and body ache are usually given. It usually last 5 to 7 days. You can take warm chicken soup tea with lemon and vitamin c. If there is any secondary infection then antibiotics are advised. That also you should take for proper duration. Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further queries. Thanks
First of all stop taking medicines your own, or on others advice be it's a chemist. All you do is take 1 or 2 doses of antibiotics and then stop and that's the main reason of antibiotics resistant. Do Google about "dangers of anti-biotic resistance" and see how wrong you dealing with it. Visit nearest doctor and get proper medicines after all required tests done.
Regards!
